This organization is open to undergraduate pre-pharmacy students in addition to graduate professional students. Members are encouraged to read the various state publications and to participate in the activities of the parent organization. Through the Academy of Student Pharmacists, students have the opportunity to discuss both national and local issues pertaining to pharmacy. Many members also attend regional and national conventions that place them in contact with peer practitioners. Members keep abreast of professional information by attending meetings, by reading and discussing the bulletins issued from the Washington headquarters of the American Pharmacists Association, and by reading the Journal of the Association that each member receives. APhA-ASP has opportunities for student pharmacists to become involved through patient care projects, community outreach, and professional development. While participating in this process, The Harding University AISC Student Chapter convenes to exchange steel-related knowledge, engage in educational activities, and to network with peers and industry representatives to build team work, problem solving, communication and management skills for the students involved and to promote Harding University's Engineering Program to businesses, alumni and prospective students. Additionally, the AISC designs, fabricates, and assembles a steel bridge to the specifications set out by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) to compete in the annual Steel Bridge Competitions held by the AISC. The overall purpose of the club and the approach of its members is "To build bridges physically, inter-relationally, and spiritually".
